Q: Can I use the HydraPouch with either my left or right hand?

A: Yes, it works equally well in either hand.

Q: What is the best way to hold the HydraPouch?

A: We recommend draping your index finger lightly over the top of a filled HydraPouch as shown in the picture at right. Holding the HydraPouch in this way is very comfortable, it keeps the top sealed well, and it allows for a natural arm swing while running. Of course, there are lots of ways to carry a HydraPouch and you should experiment to find the way that works best for you, but most people find this to be the most comfortable and effective.

Q: What’s the HydraPouch made of?

A: The HydraPouch is made of recyclable food grade silicone rubber – the same material used to make baby bottle nipples and many common kitchen utensils. The belt clip on the HydraPouch is made of polypropylene - a recyclable food grade plastic commonly found in food and beverage containers.

Q: Is silicone rubber made from fossil fuels?

A: No. Silicone rubber is made from silica, which is a combination of Silicon and Oxygen. Silicon is the second most abundant element in the earth's crust, and silica is found in sand and rocks literally all over the planet.

Q: Is silicone rubber recyclable?

A: Yes, silicone rubber is recylable. While it will last and work great for many years, if it is not recycled it will eventually degrade naturally into the silica from which it was made.

Q: Does the HydraPouch contain BPA?

A: No, it does not contain Bisphenol A, commonly known as "BPA".

Q: How do I clean the HydraPouch?

A: The HydraPouch can be easily cleaned with soap and water and dried with a cloth or paper towel. It does not require special brushes, cleaning agents, or fancy gizmos to hold it open while it dries. It can be cleaned with the belt clip installed, or the belt clip can be easily removed and cleaned separately. It can also be turned inside out for easier access to the inner surfaces. Don’t worry – it will return to its original shape when you flip it right-side-out again!

Q: Is the HydraPouch dishwasher safe?

A: Yes, the HydraPouch is dishwasher safe on your dishwasher’s top shelf. We suggest turning it inside out before putting it in the dishwasher, and making sure it’s upside down so the water drains out. When it’s clean, turn it right-side-out again and it will return to its original shape.

Q: Will colored liquids stain my HydraPouch?

A: No. When used as intended, the HydraPouch will not discolor or become stained by sports hydration products.

Q: If I leave my HydraPouch in a hot car will it get deformed?

A: No. The HydraPouch can withstand extremely high temperatures without damage or deformation.

Q: How do I fill the HydraPouch from a paper cup while I’m running?

A: Take a look at our videos and see how fast and easy it is to fill the HydraPouch from a paper cup.

Q: Can I run with a filled HydraPouch hooked on my shorts, race belt, or hydration belt?

A: You can try it, but you probably won’t like it. The HydraPouch is designed to be carried in your hand when it is full, and on your shorts, race belt, or hydration belt only when it is completely empty.

Q: I have special hydration products I like to carry with me in plastic bottles on an elastic belt around my waist during a race. Can I still use the HydraPouch?

A: Absolutely. The HydraPouch was designed to clip easily to all types of hydration and nutrition belts, allowing you to get all of HydraPouch’s hydration and environmental benefits when you drink the on-course products in addition to those you carry on your belt. And from our research and experience it’s clear: even though you carry your own special nutrition and hydration products, you still want to use the on-course products many times during a typical race. Like in longer races when that stuff in your hydration belt gets warm and you need something cold and refreshing, or when you just need something different.

Q: Can I use the HydraPouch at a race even if the organizer doesn't encourage Cup-Free Racing and doesn't have HydraPour-equipped high speed dispensers on course?

A: Absolutely – the HydraPouch works great in any race. You’ll still get all the hydration benefits - more comfortable drinking with no splashing, spilling, or gulping - and because you'll be drinking your fluids instead of wearing them you’ll probably use fewer cups.

Q: How can I find out if a race I’m interested in running supports Cup-Free Racing by providing HydraPour-equipped dispensers at the aid stations?

A: First, check out our Cup-Free Racing Events page and you can see most of the upcoming Cup-Free races. If you don't see the race you're looking for, , or contact your race organizer and ask if they will be supporting Cup-Free Racing.

Q: How quickly can I fill the HydraPouch from a HydraPour-equipped high-speed dispenser?

A: A HydraPour-equipped high-speed dispenser can fill a HydraPouch with six ounces of water or sports drink in one second.

Q: How can I get a replacement belt clip if I lose mine?

A: – we’ll send you another one at no charge.
